Fassaden Timber species

FASSADEN is committed to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third party forest certification. All of our wood species are harvested in a renewable manner from controlled sustainable forests certified by independent certification bodies.

FSC Forest Stewardship Council

FSC registered (SCS-COC-00676), which provides the customer with the assurance that the timber used has a chain of custody and is only harvested from forests that meet the stringent environmental, social and economic standards laid down by the Forest Stewardship Council A.C.

LEEDTM Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System

Please call for information as our product representatives have LEEDTM Training and can offer further assistance with product selection for the LEEDTM Green Building Rating System.

Potential LEEDTM Green Building design Strategies

ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE Credit 1

Optimize Energy Performance 2-10 Points

Design the building envelope with the following:

bullet

Wood frame windows to maximize energy performance. FASSADEN wood curtain walls improve U-values by 56%.

bullet

Options in low-E glass and other high-performance coatings to improve the thermal performance of the glass.

bullet

Warm-edge spacers. The greatest amount of heat loss is through the edge of the glass.

bullet

Argon and other gases will also slow heat transfer in cold climates.

ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE Credit 2

Renewable Energy 1-3 Points

Design the building envelope with the following:

bullet

Onsite renewable energy with a Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) System.

bullet

One of the most promising renewable energy technologies is Photovoltaics. Photovoltaics (PV) is a truly elegant means of producing electricity on site, directly from the sun, without concern for energy supply or environmental harm. These solid-state devices simply make electricity out of sunlight, silently with no maintenance, no pollution, and no depletion of materials.

bullet

BIPV is the integration of PV into the building envelope. The PV modules serve the dual function of building skin (replacing conventional building envelope materials) and power generator. By avoiding the cost of conventional materials, the incremental cost of PV is reduced and its life-cycle cost is improved. That is, BIPV systems often have lower overall costs than PV systems requiring separate, dedicated, mounting systems.

bullet
Fassaden integrates PV in the building timber facade in an aesthetical, economical and technical fashion and cooperates with architects and engineers, to integrate PV in the outer shell of the building.
bullet
The PV solar modules consist of mono- or polycrystalline silicon solar cells encapsulated in an age-resistant PVB interlayer (Polyvinylbutyral) between two tempered glass panes. The front side consists of a highly transparent white glass and guarantees high light transmission. The PVB interlayer guarantees the same mechanical and reliable features as well established laminated safety glass has provided over decades.

PV Glass Facade Applications

Indoor environmental quality

credit 2 increased ventilation effectiveness 1 Point

credit 6 Controllability of Systems 1-2 Points

credit 8 daylight & Views 1-2 Points

Design the building envelope with the following:

bullet

Operable wood frame windows to maximize natural ventilation. FASSADEN tilt-turn, lift and slide, casement and awning windows can be integrated into the curtain wall facade to improve ventilation. Available with manual or powered operators for clearstory locations.

bullet

Wood Curtain Walls to achieve minimum Daylight Factor. Perfect balance for improved day lighting and the highest thermal performance. Unlimited glazing options and shading devices.

bullet

Glazed wood curtain walls system for interior atrium or interior wall partitions to improve views and daylighting to interior spaces.
